For this episode, I was trying to think of a way to connect my podcast with something we were playing with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. I had some ideas about episode related to the Beethoven cycle, as well as our Disney show we did last weekend, but those didn’t pan out.

This episode, however, was one that I wanted to make happen. I thought it would be a cool idea to play the themes and then talk about what the themes actually represented in order to give a little bit more insight into the music. I thought if people were able to hear the opening theme that is very familiar, and then learn that the “main theme” is actually “Hedwigs theme”, that might be kind of a cool easter egg for anyone who might come to our show where we’ll play the score to Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets with the movie.

My guest, Chris Confessore, was a perfect person to have on. Not only is he conducting the concert that we’re playing, but he’s also a huge Harry Potter fan himself. I’m so grateful to him for taking the time to come in and chat with me about the themes from the movies. I think it’s a really great episode, and I hope anyone listening is able to get something out of it.

As I mentioned, the Alabama Symphony Orchestra will be playing the score to “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” live with the film on April 12th and 13th at the Wright Center on the campus of Samford University. You can find more information here:

We had so much fun doing this episode that we would definitely consider doing another movie music episode. Follow me on social media and send me a message if you have a movie recommendation for us to cover!

Until next time,
